Out of the the thousands of suggestions we received after the post about the cat names, we decided on Leo for the boy and Betty for the girl. It was a difficult choice but the judges' decision is final.
Betty playing on the wood pile.
Leo seems to like the railing.
Paige and Leo have a hate-hate relationship.
I think they are getting along better every day.
All the snow melted. It was in the 60's on Saturday.
All the hay was out of the tractor port so I parked the truck under it. It's full of hay now so the truck is back outside.
It snowed again this evening. It looked like Leo was playing with the snow flakes.
They were giant, wet snowflakes.

Kittens!
Nelson's daughter had a barn cat she wanted to find a home for. We've been needing a barn cat. So, now we have two barn cats.
There's a yellow one and a gray one. They need names. Any ideas?
They've been living in Stephanie's garage so the environment shouldn't be much of a shock.
They made themselves at home.
They're both 8 months old. The yellow one is a neutered male, the gray is a spayed female. They have a litter box, food and water. The yellow one wouldn't let the gray one eat so Lisa put some food on the floor. Eventually I'm going to build a cat house so they can stay out in the carport area. They need to be out where they can kill varmints.
Drifter is doing well. She has gained more weight and always seems happy to see us when we're outside. She had lice so Lisa got some powder to kill them. It isn't the same kind of lice people or dogs get so, according to the Internet, we're safe.
Piper got to ride in the truck when we went to Lexington over the weekend. She fell off once, the seats are short and she wasn't used to them. Next time we'll have a crate for her to ride in so she's safe.
The snow was still too deep to get out in anything but the truck until today.
All of the snow melted and now there is standing water and mud everywhere.

Dogs and Horses
We had snow this morning. Now there is a thick layer of ice with wet frozen snow underneath and light fluffy snow on top. Walking is treacherous.
Luna having fun and playing in the snow.
The hay shed has some huge icicles hanging on it.
Drifter getting some grain and a brush.
Snow on the pond.
Luna
It wasn't all that cold out today, even though it looks like it in the pictures. It was around 37 and no wind.
All the girls. Piper doesn't like the ice, she has trouble walking in it.
We have ice creepers on our boots. They make a big difference.
Piper.
The sheep are running out of hay so they came out of their shed. I'll put some more out tomorrow.

Four Wheel Drive
We were really getting tired of being stuck in the house with no way to get out. This winter has been unusually bad so we bought a new truck. It isn't actually "new" but compared to the 92 Chevy it is. This one is four wheel drive and has no trouble getting up the driveway in the snow.
2010 Ford F250 Superduty XLT Supercab 4x4. It has the factory towing package with the big mirrors and electric trailer brake controls.
It has a 5.4L V8 gas engine.
The extended cab is nice. We wanted one after having no extra room inside the other truck.
More seats behind the seats.
The floor is rubber mat and is flat across the back so your rifle will lay flat. The back seats fold up so you can put some shotguns back there too.
It is much more comfortable than our old truck. Automatic transmission, CD player and Aux line-in stereo. Very modern.
The 4 wheel drive is electronic shift with auto locking hubs. The hubs have manual lock too for extreme conditions.
I hooked up the little trailer so Lisa could return Andy's 4 wheeler.
Our 4 wheeler has been at the shop for three weeks and was ready today. Lisa dropped off Andy's and picked ours up at the shop.
The haze is ice fog.
When we first got home last night I had shifted into 4x4 high and made it up the driveway easily with no slipping. I went back down to pick Lisa up over at Nelson's wide spot and played around with the transfer case shift switch. Somehow I knocked it out of 4 wheel drive even though the indicator was in the 4x4 high position. The 4x4 light on the dash was flashing and I didn't know that meant that it wasn't engaged. It slipped and slid all the way up and had to make three tries. Lisa got out and walked after the second attempt and noticed that the front wheels weren't spinning. I dug out the owner's manual (yes, I read the directions) and found out what I had done wrong. Something about putting the transmission in neutral before shifting from 4x4 low back up to 4x4 high. We have it figured out now and it works beautifully.
See the van?
It wouldn't make it much past the driveway bridge so we left it over in Nelson's wide spot. It might be there a while.
