Box Blade

I got the brush cutter put away again. I think we're done with it for the year. I hooked up the box blade to clean out the feed areas around the hay cradles. I had to tighten one of the hitch pins. Its lock washer isn't locking so I'll have to find a new one. I didn't have any big enough to replace it.

I took it down to the bridge to adjust it on the flat concrete. It's parked down in the shed now.

Lisa plans to move the sheep into the upper Reece pasture this weekend so I got the barn up there ready for them. We had the two Husqvarna mowers and the sheep table in there. I moved out the mowers and secured the table. The starter solenoid gave up on the Zero turn so I'll have to find a replacement for it too.
The sheep probably wouldn't hurt the table but it has some gaps and sharp edges they might get stupid with.

All tucked away behind panels.

They were hanging out on the hillside in the tall grass.

They're usually up by the Braford Pear in the mornings. It will be a quick walk to the new pasture.

Rain Walk and Hornworms

It rained most of yesterday and this morning. Bill and Kathy broke out the umbrellas for the afternoon walk. I was at work all day working a disaster recovery test which ran long but was successful.

I think Bill was singing in the rain.

The girls got wet.

Kathy stayed dry.

Tequila found herself on the wrong side of the fence.

She remembered where the gate was eventually.

We haven't had many hornworms on the tomatoes this year. We had one early on and it got the wasp larva on it so we left it. We've seen a lot of those wasps around so we tried to help them out and preserve them. We also encouraged the spiders around the plants to catch the hornworm moths. I found two more today and both had the larva infestation These are the only two we've had this year.

They're nasty looking but we leave them so they'll hatch or whatever it is larva do.

The larva feed on the hornworm. They're pretty much zombies at this point and don't eat anymore of the plant.

I spread out the gravel that was under the John Deere, which we sold.

We left it high on purpose. I pulled about an inch off the top and spread it to the stall mats. It looks better and doesn't have as big of a hump.

The Seat of the Tractor

Bill and Kathy went to Tractor Supply with me to get the new tractor seat. The old one has been on its last legs for a while. It was time.

It wasn't easy getting it installed.

Bill refused to let me help. I was crushed.

Kathy swept up the leaves in the driveway.

After the seat was done, Kathy and I helped Bill fix the tiller.

Bill said Kathy and I should find something else to do so we shoveled rocks.

All my girls!

The rocks were to go around the new slabs. It looked nice when we were done.

Some of the delicate work had to be done by hand. We used our feet.

Guns and Gates

Bill, Kathy and I went to the gun show over at the Kentucky Horse Park today.  They had guns and stuff there. Afterward we went to Chipotle for lunch and then to Cabela's to look at fishing stuff. It was fun. When we got back we went down and fixed the electric fence gate opening at the red ram gate.

Dogs were walked, of course.

There were a lot of accessories. Not just guns.

I was showing Bill which wire it was.

Should I help him?

He was doing pretty good on his own. Hmm.

I did work on it too.

We tested it and got good shock value on both sides of the gate. We went up at the top and checked it around the berry tractor and got a good reading there too. Later I went down and unhooked the brush cutter and brought the tractor up. I'm going to attach the box blade for cleaning up the hay cradle areas. Winter is coming.

No dogs on the way down to get the tractor so the ewes stayed close to the fence.

Bill was mansplaining something to Kathy.
