Return to the Horse Park

Mom and Dad wanted to go to the Kentucky Horse Park today so we all piled in the van and went. It was a lot of fun. The weather was lovely and it wasn't very crowded. We stopped at Golden Corral in Lexington on the way back home. Piper couldn't go in the museum so she waited with the nice man at the desk. He adored her of course. Doesn't everyone?

Sleeping Arizona

The baby was sleeping outside the chain link fence yesterday. She looked very relaxed.

Today it rained really hard. Arizona got all wet. Poor baby.

Remembering

We have gathered together today to remember all of those who have died for our freedom. As bad as things are these days we still have the greatest and strongest country in the world.

Yesterday we all went to Ruth Hunt Candy's in Mt. Sterling. It was a fun trip as usual.

You can get an idea of Arizona's size here.

Meeting Arizona

Sundown brought Arizona up to the barn for a visit. They were hanging out up here all day. Lisa went out this morning and took a bucket. It's possible that the bucket was Sundown's motivation but she stayed. Lisa was able to comb Sundown's mane and tail. Sundown let Lisa hold Arizona. Arizona was okay with it as long as she could see her momma. I went out this afternoon and Sundown took treats from me and let me scratch her ears. I think it's going quite well. Where can we get a halter small enough for that tiny little face? All of the pictures I took today can be found here.

Getting Close

Sundown let Lisa get close to her and Arizona today.

Heidi wanted a snack so I took her some alfalfa cubes.

I got the gate installed today. We put this fence across the front to keep the large hoofed creatures off of the cars.

Born Yesterday

It's hard to believe something so young can get around so well. Sundown still keeps her distance so we haven't got close yet. We'll probably need to corral them. Below are four of the pictures I took today. If you're tired of looking at extremely cute horse pictures then you might not want to follow this link. I posted all 50 of the pics in another web album.

Baby Update

Guess what we've been doing all day? If you guessed watching a cute little baby horse frolic around the pasture, you'd be correct. We are thinking it's a filly. Sundown still keeps between us and the baby but we think we saw pee coming out the back which is a sign of femaleness. Also when I was taking these pictures I could see her underside a little and it looks smooth under there. We'll let them settle down then try and get close again tomorrow. See additional pictures in the album here.

Baby Mini!

Sundown had her baby some time last night. The baby is less than a day old in these pictures. We haven't got close enough to determine gender but we'll post again when we find out. Mom and baby both seem fine.

This link is to the web album with all the pictures. If you click on the zoom tool it will show in full resolution. The download link downloads in full resolution as well. You can order prints too, suitable for framing.

Spring Day

The weather was beautiful today. I was working but went out a few times to take pictures.

The girls were sitting in the shade watching Lisa brush the horses. She hung up the hummingbird feeders too.

Andy hung up a few more bird houses. The birds investigated right away. The Locust trees are in full bloom. The little plot in front of Buddha is the strawberries.

The garden has some weeds but it is doing well. The spinach is the only thing doing poorly. We think maybe it got too much water in all the rain we've had.
