Stall

Andy helped put up the stall in the barn. We took turns operating the pick pole and the post hole digger. Bahloo helped. Andy thought we were just staging Bahloo in the pictures for the sake of blog drama. He knows better now.

Horse Ride

Andy got up on Bahloo today. She was good. She hadn't thrown him by the time I went back inside. Heidi and Sundown were both fascinated by the whole thing.

Paige's Stick

We had a little snow last night. Paige played with her stick. She let me throw it a few times but it was hers. It wasn't bitterly cold out today, it got up into the upper twenties, but it was windy.

This Seemed Familiar to Me

This was a Superbowl commercial. Does it remind you of anyone?

New CRKT M60

I wanted to get a good fixed blade so I decided on the Columbia River Knife and Tool (CRKT) model M60 clip point. It has an AUS 8 stainless steel blade with a titanium nitride coating for superior corrosion resistance. The injection-molded Zytel® scales have an aggressive operator’s pattern. A double guard hilt, with thumb friction grooves and pronounced butt pommel, gives maximum security and grip.

The Cordura®/Zytel® sheath has an injection-molded Zytel liner which prevents blade penetration and helps secure the knife. It has several different strap and fastener configurations.

The knife is comfortable to hold with it's ergonomic handle and the tang runs all the way through to the pommel and even out through the hilt.

Weasel

We got a few things done today. We got up early and went out to breakfast. We got home and did stuff around the house.

The baby birds are getting bigger. We got this indoor greenhouse thing at Lowe's yesterday with some seeds. If you can't read them in the picture the seeds are sweet corn, green beans, cow peas and hollyhocks.

We got some new weather stripping at Lowe's too. I moved the feed bucket hooks to the other side of the posts in hopes that giant horses will find it more appealing and not trample us to death as we feed them. This procedure was, of course, thoroughly fascinating to the giant horses.

Lisa pulled the barbs off the wire next to the new feed bucket hooks so the giant horses don't poke themselves. The girls came out to watch.

I walked the fence which caught the attention of the giant horses. Bahloo came galloping down the hill to me. Seeing that horse running full speed, down hill, in the mud straight at you is something to behold. I moved quickly to the side just in case she didn't stop in time. The three little strands of barbed wire wouldn't have slowed her much if she slipped in the mud. Bahloo has been playing in the mud.

Heidi played in the mud some too. I found the weasel. It had been dead for a while. Barbara had said she saw one walking across the yard last summer.

Baby Birds and File Storage

You know how baby chickens are so cute when they are born? They're all soft and fluffy, one might say "adorable". Baby finches didn't get that. There are two little ones in the nest. The other nest had 5 eggs in it and none of them hatched. Lisa pulled them out and the female promptly laid two more eggs. We were surprised to see anything hatch after the power outage had it so cold in here.

My new hard drives came in and I got them installed. I labeled them this time so I would know which was which in the future. The 300GB drive is my system drive and the rest are file storage, I think 4 terabytes will be enough for a while. The 2TB drives are still a little pricey.

Chicken Sandwich

Is this who I think it is?

I know there was a lot of posts for one day. It was an action packed Sunday, what can I say?
