Lisa went down and opened the gate to the front pasture. Now the horses are free to roam the entire ten acres. They haven't been back on our side of the fence much since we first let them over into the pond side. They have been drinking out of the pond because the water in the trough isn't draining as fast. The pond water looks muddy but it hasn't been frozen in a few days.
Lisa walking down to open the gate.
It's rusty and doesn't hang well so you have to kind of drag it open. Lisa in the big pasture.
The horses found the open gate shortly.
There was lots of exploring to be done. And grass to be foraged.
We went down to Mercer county to look at a utility trailer. It was a nice one and we bought it. The mud on the van was where I dropped off the gravel for about 20 ft. trying to swing wide to turn the trailer around. We don't have a lot of "paved" area to turn a trailer around.
It's a 5'x10' with a 3500 lb axle and four foot drop gate. I liked the full size 15" tires and 2"x6" deck boards. It tows well behind the van.
I had to drop the trailer and the back of the van off the gravel to get it turned around. It made a muddy mess. It's been raining all day. I would like to have parked it over by the horse trailer but didn't want to wait until spring to drive the van again. Lenny was seeing coat but thinking scratching post. He was hanging out in the mud room today.
It's not as big as the other one you used to haul hay, but you should be able to haul all you need with the truck in front of it. And it will be much easier to move the lawn tractor if you need to take it anywhere.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Long Post. The horses always like it when they change pastures. Lenny was checking you pockets.
