Dog Dryer

Lisa got a new dryer for the dogs. It doesn't use heat, just a strong air stream.
Luna testing out the new dryer.

It blows the water right off of them.

We can move the big round bales with the new hay spear. We found it on craigslist.

I put gravel out in the path to the barn. The mud is finally drying up a little but the gravel is nice to have. Not sure why we didn't think of it sooner.

The hen house path has gravel now too. It's much more stable walking out there.

Duane has his first visitors. The big "fluffy" ewe is 33.

 This one is 32.

The spotty one is 27. They are visiting from Nicholasville. They hope to go home in a few weeks in a family way. Duane is young but he is figuring out the ways of the world. Samantha is helping to show him the ropes, she's easy.

 Duane and his ewes.

Lulu is standing in front of one of the fluffy ewes. Ivy is next to one and looks skinny.

We found a 4'x6' trailer for the four wheeler on craigslist. It has a 2" ball and is street legal so we can tow it behind the van too.

The Unhorned

The calves went to the vet on Tuesday to have their horns removed. Morty went first by himself, he is too big to share the trailer. The three little ones went after Harvey was done. We had banded Morty but the others still needed castration so they got that done too. Since they were already there for the horns the cost was really reasonable. And as an added plus we didn’t have to handle any bull’s testicles.

   The boys follow Lisa everywhere.

They had headaches but bounced back quickly.

Harvey had big horns. They cut them off with a big lopper then cauterize them with a heated iron.

Beavis didn’t have horns so he just got his balls cut off.

Heading back to the barn.

The scrotum is removed with the testicles. No stitches.

They got snacks after their ordeal.

We had a little snow this week. Very little. It’s snowing again now, they say we’ll get about an inch.

Still Muddy

The mud hasn't let up this winter. It's been raining so much and not getting cold so the mud never freezes or dries up. We haven't been doing many interesting projects, just the normal feeding and chores.
The view from Nelson's tractor.
We're still using it to load round bales.
Luna having fun outdoors. Her little feet get quite muddy.
She's a busy little dog and likes to run.
The geese are back
I think they came back earlier this year.
The warm weather has everyone confused.
It was a pretty day today.
Piper, Luna and Satin.
Lulu is starting to look like a ewe.
The muddy ruts are from the tractor loading hay.
I'm glad it is four wheel drive.
The bunny port with gravel walkway.
Why gravel? Mud!
The old barn and sky looked nice.
Larry with the hay.
Ivy is filling out too.
