The Unhorned

The calves went to the vet on Tuesday to have their horns removed. Morty went first by himself, he is too big to share the trailer. The three little ones went after Harvey was done. We had banded Morty but the others still needed castration so they got that done too. Since they were already there for the horns the cost was really reasonable. And as an added plus we didn’t have to handle any bull’s testicles.

   The boys follow Lisa everywhere.

They had headaches but bounced back quickly.

Harvey had big horns. They cut them off with a big lopper then cauterize them with a heated iron.

Beavis didn’t have horns so he just got his balls cut off.

Heading back to the barn.

The scrotum is removed with the testicles. No stitches.

They got snacks after their ordeal.

We had a little snow this week. Very little. It’s snowing again now, they say we’ll get about an inch.
