New Year's Eve

The last day of 2008 is finally here. I had the day off so I got to go around with Lisa, Andy, Lynne and Allen. We went to the river and ate lunch at Hall's on the River.

The pool blew around in the yard again last night. Andy and Lisa folded it up and put blocks on it to hold it down.
Andy helped with the horse feeding too. It snowed a little this morning.

The fence guys got enough of the fence done to let the horses over there. They didn't get the gates up but they put some field wire across the hole so we could let them out.

We went riding on the four wheeler. It was a lot of fun. Lisa is really bugging me to get one now.

The Vandivers

Andy, Allen and Lynne got here his afternoon. They'll be staying a few days before heading back to New York. Lisa is making a turkey dinner tonight in their honor. It was nice weather today. The fence guys worked some more and got most of the metal posts in. They still need to wire them to the fence and put in the gates. If they had put up the outside gate we would have turned the horses out there tonight.

Heidi liked Andy.

Bahloo stuck her nose in while I was taking Allen's picture. The four wheeler belongs to the fence guys. They needed to store it here for a while. Now Lisa thinks I need one because it looks so cool. She's the boss so I guess I'll have to get one now.

Fence Wire

The fence guys finally got a couple of days of good weather so they did some work on ours. They said they'd be able to finish up tomorrow. We can hope! We actually have wire up now. They just need to put in the metal posts and finish up the gates.

Windstorm

We had a bad wind storm last night. They had predicted gusts at 45 mph and I think we got some of them. As you can see it knocked over the pool. We had drained it most of the way so we could take it down. It looks bad but there were only four broken metal pieces and a few of the retaining clips. They can all be ordered from the manufacturer's website.

The aftermath. Haley played in the mud.

Cathryn getting to feed the horses one more time.

She had to go. We couldn't keep her because the Army wanted her back.

We got the pool taken apart and laid out the pieces for inventory.

I posted about the new muck cart yesterday and forgot to include a picture. I took some today. It isn't in the same pristine condition as it was yesterday. It probably never will be again. It works quite well. The handle and the dual wheels make it so you can pull as well as push it.

Paige is ranging. We finally got the time and weather to work on the kick wall again.

We were tramping through the mud a lot carrying boards so we tried a few ideas to make it easier. The boards worked but you have to be careful because they act like skis. We left them out there to see how they survive the horses.

The back wall is done.

Muck Cart

Cathryn and I went to Winchester today to pick up Lisa's new muck cart. The old one she had been using broke when the horse poop froze into the bottom of it. Cathryn got a little garden wagon. We stopped and got some horse food while we were out too.

Bahloo and Heidi tried to help Cathryn load the wagon.

Draft horse may do well with pulling loads but when it comes to loading them...not so much help.

They couldn't get it to fit in the trunk.

We broke out the Hickory Farms cheese and sausage for lunch.

We finally got our Christmas ham. They gave us a refund at Walmart so we got a new one. We did get a different brand this time. It was worth the wait!
