Sheltie Christmas Party

We went to Versailles today to the Sheltie Club Christmas party. It was fun, there was a secret Santa gift exchange and a white elephant auction. Some of the white elephant gifts were pretty nice and the proceeds went to the Sheltie Rescue here in central Kentucky. There was pot luck brunch and Lisa made Lucy Casserole. It was interesting how we found the Sheltie Club. We saw the Shelties at the Bluegrass Classic dog show in Lexington. We talked to the owners and they had mentioned the club and we got some email addresses but didn't go much further. Last week when the washing machine broke the repairman that came out happen to notice the Shelties everywhere. He is the husband of one of the ladies we met at the dog show. He invited us to the Christmas party and we joined the club while we were there. They aren't an AKC club so they don't host trials. They do have all kinds of members, conformation, obedience, tracking, and herding. The girls might get to go to shows again! I know Piper has missed it.

Lenny says handle me with care.

The Party was nice. People brought their Shelties. Some had puppies. We tried to get one but they wouldn't let us have it. See Piper under the other lady's chair. They liked Piper and all the girls.

The little boy Shelties were flirting with Piper. Even Paris got in on the action. See her mingling? She was very comfortable with her peers.

There was something very interesting in the bowl. Piper was waiting at the buffet.

Piper still waiting. She didn't know why she couldn't get served. They had it in the basement of the Agricultural Extension in Madison County.

  6. OMG, that looks like soooo much fun. I'd adore to do that with my rabbits-Dutchies! (horses don't fit inside terribly well and barns are very hard to heat for the humans- my holland bunnies aren't as well behaved as my dutchies) Or maybe if they had a Sheltie party like that up here, I'd have to go and steal Paige . . . I'm going to have to look about for those club like things around here.
