Chick Days 2014

Even though this week started with single digit temperatures, snow and ice, spring is near. The baby chickens have arrived at the feed stores so we stocked up on some hens.

 The sunset last night.

The snow had started to melt yesterday. It's all gone now.

Since the cats have free run of the garage it seemed prudent to allow the chicks to stay indoors.

Last year's white leghorns did so well laying we got some more. Lisa picked up three today and will get the other three next week. The next ones will be a different breed that is also supposed to be well suited for the area.

Luna hasn't quite figured out the cats. The rest of the girls are getting better about chasing them. It helps when they don't run.

The snow melted today. The grass is already turning green-ish.

 Satin posed for a picture.
