The last time we had pears on the trees they were heavy enough to break some of the branches. The trees are bigger and have more fruit this year. After seeing how heavy the cherries got we needed to try something to keep them safe. I tied a strap around the branches to brace them against each other. If it starts to tip we can use the strap as an anchor point for posts ore poles to hold them up.
